Welcome to the website of the 2018 Construction Research Congress (CRC 2018)
Welcome Note from Dr. Charles Berryman
The theme for this conference is “Community Partnerships”. Working with the US Department of Commerce, Louisiana State University (LSU) has incentivized and facilitated collaboration among private and public sector stakeholders within the state. There is a focus nationwide on direct, ongoing collaboration with key local and regional stakeholders, sector stakeholders within the state. There is a focus nationwide on direct, ongoing collaboration with key local and regional stakeholders, attraction of private investment, and the design and implementation of long-term strategic planning that integrates public and private resources to create broad-based prosperity. The city of New Orleans perfectly suites this theme as it is the Gulf of Mexico’s busiest northern port and a driving force of the regional economy in Louisiana.
New Orleans is known for its unique Creole culture and vibrant history. Its distinctive cuisine contains local ingredients combined with French, Spanish, Italian, African, Native American, and a hint of Cuban food traditions. This mix produces a truly unique and easily recognizable Louisiana flavor. The conference hotel is next to the French Quarter (known locally as "the Quarter"), which dates from the French and Spanish eras. It is a main tourist destination. This neighborhood contains many hotels, restaurants, and bars, most notably around Bourbon Street. Other attractions in the quarter include Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, the French Market (including the Café du Monde, famous for café au lait and beignets), and Preservation Hall.
The congress will include the signature tracks traditionally offered in the Construction Research Congress as well as new tracks. This will allow presenting innovative and up to date research related to our construction community.
On behalf of the Bert S. Turner Department of Construction Management, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and the Organizing Committee, I invite you to the 2018 CRC and the city of New Orleans.
